Is there a scheme of Mahavitran officials and the government to privatize the company?

The company has been delaying to take action against the guilty officials and employees regarding electricity theft and leakage.

Mr Yogendra Sangale

Due to power theft and power leakage, Mahavitran is losing crores of rupees over the years. The government and the Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission are not seen to take any kind of strict action against the officers and employees of the company responsible for this electricity theft.

More information about this when asked to Mr. Yogendra Sangle, Vice President of Maharashtra State for RTI Human Rights Activists Association, he stated that Mahavitaran Company is a government enterprise and a government owned company. Even though the government is obliged to sell electricity to the common man at a lower rate than the private electricity distribution companies, they are selling electricity in the opposite way. It appears that this is the reason of electricity theft and leakage. Managing Director and Co-Managing Director off Konkan Regional Division Welfare in despite of complaining against them, the energy department has not taken any action against them, so therefore I myself complained to the government against these two officials, the energy department has started the investigation of these two big officials.

Due to these corrupt officers and engineers, the company has lost Rs. 10,759 crores throughout Maharashtra.

In 2021-22, there is a loss of Rs 7560 crore in 2020-21. For the compensation for this loss the company regularly collects from the pockets of ordinary consumers who pay electricity bills stated “Sangle”.

At a glance, all these conspiracies are a ploy to privatize the Mahavitran Company.

The non-action attitude of the Board of Directors and Engineers is evident as well as that of the Energy Department.

It can be seen that the government has nothing to do with this. Mr. Yogendra Sangle has repeatedly corresponded with the Chief Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister and the Energy Minister, but it is not seen that they have taken any kind of strict action in this regard. Therefore, if the Chief Minister does not take proper strict action in this regard in the next 07 days, then he has warned of large-scale public agitation across the state stated Shri. Yogendra Sagale, Vice President of Maharashtra State for RTI Human Rights Activist Association.
